Many will think of this creature as a dragonfly. However, a study of the literature suggests that this is a damselfly. The feature that is usually given as a distinguishing trait, is that when at rest a damselfly will lay its wings along the line of its body.
Unless you know better, this appears to be a female Banded Demoiselle. Males are a brighter blue, whereas the females are more green.
