On a support to one of the main roof beams of a barn at Abbey Farm is carved "WILLIAM WORF". A further incomplete "M" is also visible and the spacing suggests that the second line was planned to hold something longer than the four letters of the surname.
Two William Worfs appear in the Census returns for the middle 1800s, and without further evidence it is not possible to which of the two carved the beam.
